Melbourne City FC delivers community programs through its charitable arm, City in The Community (CiTC). Using the power of football (soccer), CITC works with young people and schools to deliver programs that create healthy people, healthy communities and healthy futures. Sessions in the classroom and on the pitch focus on leadership, respect and teamwork, with potential pathways to further education and employment.
Program description
Immersion Days are 1-day visits to the City Football Academy at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East, run by City in the Community (CITC).
Students visit a world-class football facility and take part in activities that link sport, learning and future pathways.
The program includes:
- guided tours of the City Football Academy
- football coaching and practical skill activities
- workshops on teamwork and leadership
- information about careers in sport and connection to education pathways
- question and answer sessions with club staff and, where possible, players
- reflection activities linked to personal development and life skills.
This program is designed to give students new and engaging learning experiences. It helps students to build confidence, work with others and learn about opportunities in sport related careers.
Immersion Days are also suitable for students studying VCAL, HPE or Certificate I or II in Sport Coaching or similar.
Sessions are supported by graduates of CITC’s Young Leaders Program, who share their own experiences and act as positive role models.
