Program description
The City Young Leaders Program is a 2-day program run by City in the Community (CITC), delivered at school.
It uses football to give students a fun, school-based program focused on leadership, teamwork and connection.
The program includes:
- classroom workshops on leadership, respect, teamwork and communication
- inclusive football activities
- peer mentoring led by graduates of CITC’s Young Leaders Program.
Students take part in classroom and on-field activities that build communication, teamwork and personal development. The program also supports learning about respectful relationships and can link to the Victorian Curriculum.
Football sessions use games and team activities that can be adjusted for different year levels and student needs.
Sessions are planned around the school timetable and can be adapted to suit the school’s priorities, space and student group.
The program also introduces students to opportunities to volunteer and work in sport and the community sector. Students will also learn more about the Diploma of Sport and Business Management run at the City Football Academy, in conjunction with Federation University.
Students may also hear from A-League Men’s, Women’s and Powerchair team representatives, who help promote the club’s values and act as positive role models.
