Program description

Imagine Me is a prevention program that aims to promote positive body image and decrease body image issues and disordered eating. Students work in small groups to learn about body positivity and how to critically analyse the media. Students also learn how to get help when needed.

Imagine Me runs for 5 x one-hour sessions with additional sessions for parents/carers and teachers to learn how to confidently promote positive body image and respond to body image concerns.

Implementation considerations

  • Target population: The program is designed for students in years 5–8, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Program adaptability: The program is suitable for diverse cohorts including:
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
    • culturally and linguistically diverse students.
  • Staffing: Backfilling may be required to cover staff in professional development or parent workshop activities. Backfilling will not be required for student programs.
  • Training requirements: The staff professional development session will require basic audio-visual infrastructure such as a TV, projector, or smart screen. The student program session will require access to a TV, computer, or other device.
  • Factors to consider: Training consists of 5 x one-hour sessions for students. Schools are asked to deliver pre-program surveys to students participating in the program. There is a minimum of 5 participants per group. Implementation support is provided prior to and throughout the duration of program delivery. Post-program follow up may include longitudinal survey.

The cost for the Imagine Me program for one year are listed below:

  • Package 1: $8,625 (including GST) plus travel expenses, including student programs, parent/carer workshop and teacher professional development session.
  • Package 2: $6,237 (including GST) plus travel expenses, including student programs and parent/carer workshop.
  • Package 3: $5,198 (including GST) plus travel expenses, including student programs.

Additional student programs, teacher professional development and parent/carer workshops can be added to any package at extra cost.
