True North workshops help young people explore who they are and who they want to be through reflection on their stories, values, and strengths

The Huddle helps young people enhance their education and career opportunities through sport.

It started in 2010 as the community arm of the North Melbourne Football Club, in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation.

The Huddle supports young people to build their strengths, learn new skills, and feel they belong in inclusive communities.

Program description

True North workshops empower young people to discover who they are. Participants reflect upon and share their story, developing an understanding of how their values and attributes shape their identity and future pathways.

True North comprises of three packages: 'Our' True North, 'My' True North and ‘Team’ True North.

‘My’ True North is a transformative program that empowers students to cultivate their intrapersonal skills. This equips them with skills to navigate challenges, embrace change, and foster a growth mindset. Students partake in these workshops:

  • Identity

‘Our’ True North is designed to empower students by nurturing their collaborative abilities and fostering empathy with their classmates. Students partake in these workshops:

  • Connections
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership

'Team’ True North is designed to introduce the social and emotional skills to students. Students partake in these workshops:

  • Similarities and Differences
  • Emotions
  • Conflict
  • Collaboration
