Education Week is an annual celebration of public education in Victoria, and this year it runs from Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 May 2023.

The week is a great chance for students to take part in some free and fun activities; it's also an opportunity for you to share what makes your school great.

This year's theme, 'Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate', focuses on some of the amazing ways students learn inside and outside of the classroom through physical activity, hands-on learning and using student voice.

What schools can do

There are many ways to celebrate Education Week in your classroom.

Victorian government schools are invited to participate in free excursions, incursions and online events hosted by the department's education partners, including Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Museums Victoria and Arts Centre Melbourne.

From virtual storytime to puppetry, dance and coding workshops, there's something on offer for all year levels, and some professional learning for teachers too.

You can also download free curriculum-aligned classroom activities to use during Education Week, including fun ideas to get your students moving, learning new skills and finding their student voice.
