Help your years 9 to 10 students gain real experience this September

The department is pleased to present 2 tremendous opportunities for students in years 9 and 10 to embrace their passions and turn them into a career pathway.

The Public Education Foundation is seeking applications from current Year 10 students passionate about social justice for the Lilly Murphy Memorial Scholarship. Please let your students know that applications are due by Tuesday 12 September 2023, and share the information provided below.

Also in September, years 9 and 10 students are invited to attend a free school holidays gameplay event and gain industry insights, following the sold out Real XPerience career pathways event, beginning Saturday 23 September 2023. See below for more information.

Lilly Murphy Memorial Scholarship

The Lilly Murphy Memorial Scholarship is open to current Year 10 students attending a Victorian government school who are passionate about equity and social justice.

The scholarship is named in memory of Lilly Murphy, who was in Year 12 at Princes Hill Secondary College when she became ill and tragically passed away in November 2021.

The Real XPerience

The department has partnered with games and culture experience company Fortress Melbourne to deliver a free one-day career pathways event, Real XPerience, followed by a full week of gaming. The event will highlight gaming as a career pathway which can be pursued through the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major curriculum.

While the careers event on Friday 22 September 2023 is now sold out, students can still enjoy the opportunity to access a week of free gameplay at Fortress Melbourne.

To attend, visit Fortress Melbourne at Shop 25/23 Caledonian Lane, Melbourne, from Saturday 23 until Friday 29 September 2023.
