The webinars will cover:
- Foundational literacy skills in reading for secondary students
- Trauma-responsive practice.
Foundational literacy skills in reading for secondary students
This 3-part webinar series will provide an overview of foundational reading literacy skills.
The series will be presented across Semester 2, 2023, in 3 one-hour sessions. The presenters will share practical strategies to identify student point of need in areas such as decoding and reading fluency and explore ways to target teaching to support student learning progress.
Each webinar will have a discrete area of focus for reading skill development. Attendees will leave equipped with knowledge to confidently and effectively target the learning gaps of students and design learning to meeting them at their point of need.
Trauma-responsive practice
This webinar series, with the Australian Childhood Foundation, will build on tutors’ and improvement teachers’ understanding of the impact of trauma on students’ functioning, ability to learn and ability to manage social relationships.
It will provide practical strategies to apply in the classroom, in small groups or in one-on-one settings.
