A suite of free optional professional learning is available to build the capacity of school staff to support students’ mental health and wellbeing.
The training is provided by headspace and funded through the Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools initiative.
We encourage teachers and school staff to register for these training opportunities.
About the headspace training
The following professional training sessions are available to help school staff to support students’ mental health.
SAFEMinds: In Practice
This one-day training for primary and secondary school staff covers early intervention mental health support for students, engaging with parents and carers, and referral pathways into other support services.

Suicide Risk Continuum Training
This one-day training for secondary school staff focuses on identifying, supporting and responding to self-harm and suicidal behaviour in students.

Skills-based Training on Risk Management
These sessions are only open to department staff with responsibility to undertake risk conversations, and who have completed Suicide Risk Continuum Training within the past 3 years.
