Career education professional learning

Build on your skills and knowledge to improve leadership and delivery of career education at your school.

Qualified, skilled and well-informed career practitioners are greatly valued by students, teachers, parents and carers.

These professional learning opportunities will support you to lead delivery of a high-quality career education program.

Australian Centre for Career Education membership

In 2024, up to 2 career practitioners per Victorian government secondary school can access 12 months’ membership with the Australian Centre for Career Education (ACCE), funded by the department.

Membership with ACCE gives career practitioners access to subject-specific professional development, networking and practice-sharing opportunities, resources and up-to-date information about career education research.

The pilot of funded ACCE membership is available to career practitioners with or without an existing membership. Funding for membership will be provided directly to ACCE by the department.

To apply for funded membership, complete the form on the ACCE website by 30 June 2024.

Upskilling Career Practitioners

We offer study grants to support government secondary teachers to complete a Graduate Certificate in Career Education/Career Development. More than 400 teachers have participated in training through these grants since 2019.

In most cases, the funding will cover all costs. Schools can also get 2 days of casual relief teaching to support involvement in coursework.

We encourage all government secondary schools to help their staff to apply. An expression of interest process is run each year. More information about how to apply will be available when applications reopen in Term 3, 2024.
